Cabrini Basketball Loses One of Its All-Time Greats
On Saturday December 16, 2006, the Cabrini Basketball Alumni family lost one of its own, Marty Clancy. Marty came to Cabrini as part of Coach Dzik's original recruiting class in 1980. He was a 6'5" All-Delco center from Collingdale H.S. (now part of Academy Park), and played 3 years at Cabrini, scoring 908 points and gathering 613 rebounds during his career (both good for a spot in the program's top 15 all-time Scoring/Rebound lists). Not only was Marty a great basketball player, he was a great person, and a friend to many Cabrini Basketball Alumni. Marty will be remembered, and will be missed.

Former Cavalier Standout, Jeff Dailey Victim of Deadly Fire in East Stroudsburg

Former Cabrini College Basketball Player Jeff Dailey was tragically killed as a result of a fire in his off-campus duplex in East Stroudsburg, PA on November 8, 2007.  Dailey played at Cabrini for 2 years following his record-setting high school career at Notre Dame High School in Easton, PA. While at Notre Dame, Dailey set his school's all time scoring record with 1,742 points, and was the Colonial League MVP and a PIAA Class 2A all-State selection as a senior. As  result of his stellar high school career, Notre Dame retired his jersey (#20) in 2004.  During his Cabrini career, Dailey was named 2004-05 Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year, and was named All-Conference Honorable Mention in 2005-06.  Following the 2005-06 season, Dailey left Cabrini, and ended up enrolling at East Stroudsburg University this fall, planning to resume his playing career in the near future. Jeff was a great basketball player, but more importantly a great teammate and friend to many members of the Cabrini Alumni Basketball family.  Jeff will always be a Cavalier, and both him and his family will remain in our thoughts and prayers.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jeff's memory to Notre Dame High School; or to the charity of one's choice.

A Welcome from New Cavalier Coach Marcus Kahn

Dear Alumni, Family and Friends,

It is truly a pleasure to introduce myself to you all as the new men’s basketball coach at Cabrini College. I am excited about being a part of this program and the strong tradition that comes along with it. It is truly an honor to be the head coach of the Cavaliers and to be a part of one of the strongest Division III basketball programs in the country.

Please know that we are working hard every day to return our program back to the top and add to the long line of banners that you have started. I also believe that what separates our program from all others is the tremendous alumni interest and support, not only from the players, but coaches as well. I could not feel more welcomed from those of you I have already met or spoken with on the phone, which includes great conversations with Coach Kelly and Coach Dzik. I want to thank all of you for making me feel at home and supporting our efforts in returning the program back the national level.

I look forward to meeting all of you at some point this year and hope you can catch a game. There are two dates that I want to make you aware of, in which you can meet our team and watch us in action. First, I would like to extend an invitation to all of you to come watch us practice on Saturday, November 22nd at 9 AM. Our practice that morning will be open to all men’s basketball alumni and give everyone the opportunity to meet each other. I will arrange for food and refreshments for after practice at 11:30.

The second date of importance is the Alumni Game, which will be held on Saturday, January 31st at 10 AM, followed by a reception and men’s and women’s double header basketball games vs. Marywood University. Our game that afternoon will tip-off at 3PM. Official invitations and further information about the day will be mailed out soon to you all.

Please feel free to call with any questions or just to catch up at any time. My office phone number is 610-902-1011 or by email at mnkahn@cabrini.edu. Thank you all for your support and the opportunity to lead your program!!

Take Care and see you soon,

Marcus Kahn
